Research Network

Where are the Women in Scandinavian Landscape Architecture?

Where are the Women in Scandinavian Landscape Architecture? is an international research network that initiates debates and discussions around overlooked women who have contributed to Scandinavian landscape architecture in the 20th century. Our goal is to stimulate broader studies in the field of landscape architecture to push for a new, more inclusive Scandinavian architecture history.

In history books, Scandinavian landscape architecture is still often described through a few male hero figures. To change this perception, our research network aims to contribute to a more complete understanding of Scandinavian landscape architecture, focusing on mutual and creative collaborations across gender, background, and status rather than individual contributors.

We would like to thank The Independent Research Fund Denmark for generously supporting our work.

The network is affiliated with the research project Women in Danish Architecture 1925-75.
